City Auditor's Fellowship Program

The City Auditor's Fellowship Program provides individuals with first hand performance audit and fiscal policy analysis experience in the public sector.  At the conclusion of the program, the fellow will have been exposed to most phases of the audit process.  These include preliminary survey, risk assessment, audit planning, fieldwork analysis, report writing, and recommendation follow-up.

Eligibility

Skills, qualifications, and requirements for assignment include, but are not limited to:

• Current enrollment in master's or undergraduate program in public policy, public administration, political science, business administration, accountancy, economics, international affairs, or related field OR at least 2 year experience in auditing, accounting, program evaluation, or related field;
• Be available to work approximately 10 hours per week (in consultation with the City Auditor, each Fellow will determine their own work schedule) for a minimum of 10 weeks;
• Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Power Point);
• Have an understanding that this will be an unpaid, volunteer opportunity; and
• Be willing to sign a confidentiality agreement.

Duties and Responsibilities

A Fellow's level of responsibility during the fellowship will reflect their skills, abilities, and professional experience.  For example, Fellows may conduct research, assist with data entry, and assist with performing quantitative analysis.  Fellows will work under the supervision of the City Auditor or designated staff.

Training Provided

On-the-job training will be provided.

Benefits of Volunteering

At the conclusion of the program, successful Fellows may receive college credits, a letter of recommendation, and a certificate of completion.
