City closes Broadway to cars and will open it up for fun

The event is designed to stimulate the neighborhood economy and highlight the Broadway corridor

This Sunday, the City of Sacramento will temporarily shut down Broadway to cars and open it up for the community to engage in healthy activities of all kinds. Sunday Street, is part of the “Open Street” movement of transforming streets into pop-up parks and activated public spaces.

Who:

City of Sacramento, in partnership with the Greater Broadway District, Air Quality Management District, Sacramento Area Bicycle Advocates, WALKSacramento, and Sacramento Republic FC. 

When:

Sunday, May 21 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.  

Where:

Activities will take place on Broadway from Riverside Boulevard to 26th Street, down to 2nd Avenue and east to Broadway. 

Details:

Activities will be a key part of the success of our event and will focus on health, active living, and supporting the local and neighborhood economy. Activations include:

  • Biking Events

  • Dance Classes

  • Basketball Free Throws /Soccer Goal Kicks

  • Yoga/Strength and Conditioning

More:

Attendees are encouraged to take alternative modes of transportation including walking, biking, transit, and ride share. Limited parking will be available under the W/X freeway.
