The Sacramento Places document highlights recent development projects in the City of Sacramento that incorporate the Principles of Smart Growth, which not only minimize growth-related problems, but revitalize our communities and make them better places to live. Communities incorporating the Principles of Smart Growth are often attractive, compact, safe, comprised of a mix of uses, and easy to navigate by foot, bike, or transit. Ironically, the Principles of Smart Growth that we are rediscovering today are similar to traditional development practices used until the early 20th century, before the widespread use of the automobile.
