ESBD SMALL BUSINESS DATABASE
GENERAL SEARCH INSTRUCTIONS

 

The ESBD Small Business Database contains over 10,000 businesses that have done business with the City of Sacramento, or that have been certified by the City as a Small Business Enterprise (SBE) or as an Emerging Business Enterprise (EBE), or that have been certified by the State of California as an SBE.

If you're looking to find an SBE or EBE business that is certified by the City of Sacramento, this is where your search begins.

INSTRUCTIONS:
     (You may want to print these instructions before going into the database)

Enter the ESBD Vendor Database.

You can search by the following criteria:

     1.  Firm Name

     2.  Locate Firms by Standard Industrial Classification (SIC) Code

     3.  Search by Emerging Small Business (ESB), or Small Business
          Enterprise (SBE) certification status

     4.  Search by National Institute of Government Purchasing (NIGP) Code

1.  To search by individual firm name

     •  Type the name of the firm in the box provided
     •  Click on View Search Results
     •  Select your firm from the resulting list

2.  To search by SIC Code

     •  Enter either the first letter(s) of the SIC Code description in the box         provided, or scroll through the list until you find the industry description of         choice.

For example, if you are looking for a concrete contractor (C license), enter C, hit Tab, and scroll through the resulting list until you find the type of contractor license for which you are looking. If you don't know the type of license involved, a complete list of Contractor License Codes is provided for your use.

     •  Click on View Search Results.

3.  To search by ESB or SBE classifications

     •  Enter the firm name or select from the pick-list
     •  Select one or more (or, All) Certification Status options, depending upon          your search criteria
     •  Click on View Search Results
     •  Make your selection from the resulting list

4.  To search by NIGP Code

     •  Enter either the first letter(s) of the NIGP Code description in the box         provided, or scroll through the pick-list until you find the industry description         of cho
ice.

For example, if you are looking for a concrete contractor (C license), enter C, hit Tab, and scroll through the resulting list until you find the type of contractor license for which you are looking. If you don't know the type of license involved, a complete list of Contractor License Codes is provided for your use.

     •  Click on View Search Results.

          Not all businesses in the database are certified by the City.  To find a business' certification status, click on the business name to bring up more information.  If the firm is certified with the City, there must be either SBE or EBE in the space after City Certif: and a certification expiration date in the space after City Certif. Expires:.
