Financial Empowerment center

The City of Sacramento’s Financial Empowerment Center (FEC) offers FREE professional one-on-one financial coaching for residents of the City and County of Sacramento who are 18+.

Financial Coaching is for those who would like support in building long-term financial health through:

  • Reducing debt
  • Building savings
  • Improving credit, and/or
  • Connecting with safe, affordable checking/saving accounts

This service has no income restrictions and is FREE. Coaching is available directly in English, Spanish, Dari, Farsi, and Urdu, or through interpretation in Pashto, Russian, Ukrainian, or Arabic upon request.

Please note:

  • We cannot offer services to individuals living outside of Sacramento County.
  • While the FEC does not directly provide cash assistance, FEC staff can help eligible clients access such local, state, and national resources as they are available.

To request an FEC coaching appointment, email FEC@cityofsacramento.org or call 916-808-4927. Most appointments will be remote via phone or video at this time.

The City of Sacramento offers this service in partnership with the Sacramento office of International Rescue Committee.

Financial and technical support for this project comes from the Cities for Financial Empowerment Fund (CFE Fund), which helps municipalities around the country to replicate the financial counseling/coaching and related services that New York City has offered since 2006.
In addition to City of Sacramento budget funds, other financial support for the FEC has come from:
