The shelter sponsors a COMMUNITY SPAY/NEUTER PROGRAM.  You must be a resident of the City of Sacramento (Sacramento County residents are NOT eligible) and you must meet income requirements (based on annual gross household income and number of people in the household).

FREE SPAY/NEUTER PROGRAM FOR PIT BULLS AND PIT BULL MIXES

For an appointment, call 916-504-2817 on the 5th day of the month. You must call on that day and leave a voicemail with your full name, two phone numbers, zip code, and your dog's gender, age, and weight. 

You must be a resident of Sacramento County. Proof of residency is required.

Surgery days are Tuesdays and Thursdays. Appointments are limited and fill up within a few hours, so please call early in the day.

Given the demand, it may take until the end of the month to return your call.

 


 

SACRAMENTO AREA ANIMAL COALITION

This organization sponsors a spay/neuter voucher program through participating veterinary clinics. There is a co-payment of $10 per cat and $15 per dog. To apply, go to SacAnimal.org or call 916-808-7729.

You must be a resident of one of the following areas:

  • Citrus Heights (Dogs & Cats)

  • Unincorporated Sacramento County, including Galt and Isleton (Dogs & Cats)

  • West Sacramento (Dogs Only)

You must meet income requirements:

  • Citrus Heights residents - You must provide proof of public assistance and/or have an annual household income of $35,000 or less. Cats owners do NOT have to provide proof of income.

  • Unincorporated Sacramento County residents - If you have a cat, Pit Bull or Pit Bull mix, you do NOT need to meet any income requirement. If you have a dog other than a Pit Bull or Pit Bull mix, then you must provide proof of public assistance or have an annual household income of $35,000 or less.

  • West Sacramento residents - You must provide proof of public assistance or have an annual household income of $35,000 or less.
