You may also write checks to any of these organizations and drop them off at City Hall.

Gift Cards: 

Gift cards from major retailers such as Target, Orchard Supply Hardware, Home Depot, Safeway or Walmart are also encouraged. Many residents no longer have access to a kitchen, restaurant gift cards can provide families a place to eat. Many restaurants in the impacted area use OpenTable, so OpenTable Gift Cards are a great option.

Physical Items:

YMCA of Superior California is collecting donations for the youngest victims of California Wildfires. Backpacks & school supplies; new socks, shoes, underwear & t-shirts; diapers & wipes; new or gently used coats & jackets can be dropped off at any YMCA or YMCA after-school or pre-school program site in the region and they will pack it up and deliver it to our neighbors throughout Northern California.
United Way of the Wine Country is collecting NEW and PACKAGED underwear and socks for all ages, as well as diapers, formula, bottles and sippy cups. The City of Sacramento will be hosting bins from our local United Way on the first floor of City Hall to assist in this effort. Please note that only new items listed above will be accepted.
Redwood Empire Foodbank is providing food for 24 regional shelters and badly needs donations of nonperishable and ready-to-eat food. Donations can be dropped off at the lobby on the first floor of City Hall.


Organizations in the region need volunteers. If you can volunteer, please register with an organization before heading to the region:

  • Red Cross
  • Medical professionals: Contact the Red Cross at 707-577-7600 for volunteer placement and assessment
  • The Sonoma-Marin Fairgrounds, 175 Fairgrounds Drive, Petaluma – Call 707-283-3247 to learn of their volunteer needs.
  • California Volunteers maintains updated volunteer information and links to Cal OES opperations.

Recent disasters and tragedies highlight the importance of being prepared for an emergency! Sign up to receive emergency alerts via phone call or text. To receive emergency alerts from the City, you need to register ASAP. The City will be sending a TEST message on Oct. 19 to all residents who have registered.
