The Sacramento City C​o​u​n​c​i​l​ consists of a Mayor, elected by all City voters, and eight Council members, elected to represent separate districts in the City.

The FY2016/17 Approved Budget and the 2016-2021 CIP are now available. The total budget is $978.4 million, including $426.7 million for General Fund operations, $480.3 million for enterprise and other fund operations, and $71.4 million for the Capital Improvement Program.

Downtown Housing Initiative


Mayor Kevin Johnson’s Downtown Housing Initiative will support the City’s unprecedented growth through the development of 10,000 places to live in Downtown Sacramento over the next 10 years. The purpose of the initiative is to create a better regulatory environment to streamline processes and encourage downtown development.
