Fees and Charges

Search Instructions: Enter a key word in the search field. For example, if you enter “Animal” in the search field all fees containing that word in the title or select fields will be viewable. If you enter “Animal Care” in the search field all fees containing both words in the title or select fields will be viewable.

After selecting a Department and Category, click Submit to query the fee database.

When multiple fees are listed after clicking Submit, the fee highlighted will be detailed on the right portion of the screen. Click on another fee to get additional information.

If there is no fee amount in the Amount field, click on the specific fee so it’s highlighted then click the Attachment link in the Fee Detail section on the right portion of the screen.

The Sacramento Area Flood Control Agency Development Impact Fee (SAFCA-DIF) are monies collected as a condition of land development for use by SAFCA for the acquisition, engineering, design, construction, reconstruction, maintenances, operation, or finance of flood control projects. This fee applies to all newly created damageable square footage.  Permits which authorize the construction of new buildings and additions create damageable square footage. Projects which authorize remodel work involving a change in occupancy are not subject to the fee unless the project results in the creation of new damageable square footage. Some examples of projects which would result in the creation of new damageable square footage are: Residential Garage Conversion to habitable space (exempt if <300); Conversion of two story commercial buildings to residential; Conversion of previously unconditioned residential attic space to habitable (only second story. If it is third story it is exempt from the fee); Conversion of previously uninhabitable commercial square footage to habitable (damageable) square footage may be subject the SAFCA-DIF fee in certain circumstances. The multifamily rate shall apply to all buildings with three or more units. Exemptions: Project Exemption: construction on land zoned agricultural; construction raised above or removed from CACD2 floodplain; Commercial or Industrial construction on 2nd floor or higher Square Feet Exemptions: Basements; uninhabitable Space (generally construction areas with conditioned air), Garages, Carports, Driveways, Porches, Entryways, Pool houses without air conditioning, Storage Units, Decks, Patio covers. Single-Family Construction of less than 300 net damageable square feet. Residential construction on 3rd floor or higher The calculation of the SAFCA-DIF fees can be a complicated process please contact the City of Sacramento, Community Development Department, Building Division for assistance in calculating the fee for your proposed project. It will be necessary to specify the parcel upon which the project would occur.
