In an effort to meet the growing demand of the program, City Management Academy will now begin in September 2018! Come join the City Management Academy and the Neighborhood Services Division in partnership with the Alumni Members to learn how the City is managed and operated. Participates will also discuss challenges facing the City of Sacramento and learn about strategies used to reach solutions. Disney Family Volunteering Reward Program

It’s a new year, which means new opportunities to activate families in volunteering! Through the Disney Family Volunteering Reward Program, each calendar year, eligible nonprofits and schools can earn up to 20 tickets to Disney Parks for hosting family volunteer projects. So, even if you earned tickets in 2017, your slate is clean and you can begin earning again in 2018.

There are so many ways to engage families in service, including upcoming days of service:

  • Good Deeds Day – April 15
  • National Volunteer Week – April 15-22
  • Global Youth Service Day – April 20-22

If you’re looking for ideas, generationOn, the youth division of Points of Light, has hundreds of family-friendly project ideas to help you get started.

“It’s great that youth’s parents are trying to instill the importance of volunteering, and the lesson is more impactful when a family can participate together. One family even had their baby be involved as their mother carried them as she volunteered. I heard the youth talking to the baby about what was happening during the volunteer event. So many families approached me to share that they appreciated the opportunity to both volunteer as a family and to be able to create something that would bring another family joy during the holidays.”

Greetings Neighborhood Association and Community Leaders:

We in Neighborhood Services, certainly hope you and your families had a very happy holidays. It is with great excitement and hope for what’s possible in our neighborhoods and communities throughout Sacramento, that I write today to officially invite each of you, your associations, your neighbors, communities, youth, organizations, businesses and overall networks to participate in this unprecedented conversation about the economic future of Sacramento and how we can collaboratively develop the right strategy to enhance our neighborhoods and communities city-wide. The only way change and improvement can happen for our incredible city is if we hear from as many Sacramento residents, business owners and organizations as possible.

Outlined below are the details for three community meetings, hosted by the City of Sacramento. Please help us spread this invitation far and wide to all of your contacts and networks. These discussions are critical to the future of our Sacramento communities and will help to develop the foundation and model that the City uses to create prosperous neighborhoods and thriving business corridors. Sacramento citizens and it’s neighborhoods are the vital fabric of this great city! We need each resident and neighborhood to be represented and their feedback heard, at these meetings. Success is only achieved when a strategic and effective plan has been created collaboratively, to meet the goals & needs of each respective neighborhood and community in Sacramento.  Please feel free to share the this invitation with your networks and communities throughout the city of Sacramento.
