Neighborhood Services Programs

City Management Academy

The City Management Academy (CMA) is a program offered by the City of Sacramento through the Neighborhood Services Division in partnership with the Alumni Members of the City Management Academy. The City Management Academy was created in 1995 and since then, more than 515 participants have graduated since its inception. Participants are provided an opportunity to learn how the City is managed and operated, discuss challenges facing the City of Sacramento and learn about strategies used to address them. A dialogue is developed through an interactive learning experience which allows presenters and residents to share and learn from each other.

Sacramento Youth Commission

The Sacramento Youth Commission was established by the Sacramento City Council to serve as an advisory group to provide recommendations on youth related issues in Sacramento. Since its original creation in 1993, the Sacramento Youth Commission has organized numerous public events, tackled crucial youth related issues, and worked hundreds of hours serving the Sacramento City community at-large. Young people are encouraged to attend the meetings and voice their concerns to the Sacramento Youth Commissioners

Summer @ City Hall

The Summer @ City Hall (S@CH) program was first founded in 2011 in an effort to get youth to be more civically engaged in their community. Since then, more than 400 participants graduated from the program. Participants are provided the opportunity to learn about the local government, increase awareness in current city issues, youth advocacy, and partake in an internship at either a governmental agency or local organization. We have since expanded our collaborative efforts with Sacramento City Unified School District (SCUSD),Twin Rivers School District (TRUSD), Natomas Unified School District (NUSD), and WayUp Sacramento.
