Working at START Sacramento START Program Logo

Everyone had a mentor growing up.  Who was yours?

Join us to build the capacity of individuals to succeed by providing opportunities to learn and lead within our communities.

The Sacramento START Site Teams are comprised of a Program Coordinator and Recreation Aide (the exact number per school based on a 20:1 student-instructor ratio). These teams are tasked with not only implementing the program design model at their schools, they are also empowered to design curriculum within that design to meet the needs of their school and the interests of their students. Every Site is certified in CPR and First Aid, and all of the Sacramento START staff have completed at least 48 units of college coursework and/or passed the No Child Left Behind Instructional Aide Basic Skills Exam. In addition to these requirements, complete an extensive training in Youth Development, Mandated Reporting, Classroom Management, Professionalism, Project Based Learning, Program Activities Planning, Fitness and Nutrition and so much more. Our program teams are a diverse group of individuals – many of whom come from the communities they have chosen to serve, and able to speak the dominant languages of their school – dedicated to the development of every child we serve.

Join us as a Recreation Aide and help children expand their knowledge of health and fitness, explore a variety of physical activities and nutritional awareness in a safe and caring after school environment.

Teaching school children about healthy nutrition habits and engaging them in physical activity benefits them for a lifetime. Help children expand their knowledge of health and fitness, explore a variety of physical activities and nutritional awareness.
