Ethel MacLeod Hart Senior Center

The Ethel MacLeod Hart Senior Center is the heart of operations for the City of Sacramento Older Adult Services division. In addition to providing a wide array of services, the center is a gathering place for people who come together to stretch their horizons, have fun, learn new things, make friends and discover the joys of life after age 50. The Hart Senior Center offers enrichment classes, fitness activities, services and opportunities to socialize—all to optimize the experience of aging. Membership is NOT a requirement before participating or registering for any of our classes or activities.

As required by the Sacramento County Department of Public Health for senior programs, face coverings shall be worn, regardless of vaccination status, over the mouth and nose, in all indoor public settings such as conference centers, and state and local government offices serving the public.

The Neighborhood Walks program at Hart Senior Center welcomes all Older Adults to join us on Mondays and Fridays at 12pm. This is a great time to meet & Greet Older Adults 50+ during the Lunch Break hour. Our Neighborhood Walks program includes historical landmarks and stories from Sacramento Natives living in the Downtown community. It’s only a short walk to better health. If you have Any questions, Please Contact the Neighborhood Walks Program Coordinator Quincia Burleson 916-808-5462.

The Hart Senior Center is taking steps to return to normal operations! We reopened in May and have resumed some of Hart Center’s popular exercise and literature class offerings. The exercise classes include the ever popular “Strength & Balance,” “Tai Chi,” “Line Dancing,” and “Gentle Yoga.” Writing classes include, “Life History,” “Poetry,” and “Creative Improv.” Participation requires advance registration, and the Center will initially remain closed to all but those registered for a class. Safety practices such as social distancing and face covers will be implemented.

We hope to expand offerings to other types of classes and programs soon. To stay up to date on Hart Center offerings and learn how to register for classes:
