  3. Caregiving and the Search for Self: What Happened to My Life?

Fatigue from caring for others affects the quality of our lives, our families, friends and loved ones. As someone who has chosen to be a caregiver, it is clear you have a big heart and a deep desire to help. It may also mean you are suffering mild to severe compassion fatigue. It comes with the territory. If you sense you are suffering from compassion fatigue, it is likely you are. Becoming aware is the first step in dealing with and preventing it. Julie Interrante, MA will facilitate the group to help individuals address or prevent compassion fatigue and practice authentic self-care.

There will be time for reflection, exploration and connection. This support group will meet bi-weekly for a total of eight sessions starting Wednesday, July 5, 2017 from 12:00pm to 1:15pm at the Hart Senior Center.

RSVP is required to attend. Please e-mail Stephanie Wilson at swilson2@cityofsacramento.org or call 916-808-1591 to reserve a space. Cost to attend entire series: $20 (limited scholarship is available). Free street parking. See flyer here: Caregiving and the Search for Self Group (PDF).

  4. Life After Caregiving: Permission to Live

When we have been the daily caregiver for someone we love and they die, we experience profound loss. For most of us there are feelings of relief and guilt, moments of sadness and grief as well as hope for a life of increased freedom and reconnection with friends and activities. The experience of caring for a loved one - whether a spouse, a parent or friend - changes us. With a combination of grief and extra time on our hands, we can feel empty and at loose ends. This workshop is designed to support you in reconnecting with yourself. Julie Interrante, MA will facilitate the group. There will be time for reflection, exploration and connection.

This support group will meet for a total of eight sessions starting Wednesday, July 12, 2017 from 12:30pm-1:45pm at the Hart Senior Center.

RSVP is required to attend. Please e-mail Stephanie Wilson at swilson2@cityofsacramento.org or call 916-808-1591 to reserve a space. Cost to attend: $20 to attend entire series (limited scholarship is available). See flyer here: Life After Caregiving Support Group (PDF)
