in which the Friends of Camp Sacramento (an auxiliary organization dedicated
to supporting camp) help us open camp in June and close camp in October.

You and your family can be a Friends of Camp Sacramento simply by mailing your check for $25.00 family membership to
Participating with Friends of Camp in camp opening/closing,
and other projects are fun and rewarding for the whole family. Spend a
weekend with other family campers to support the continued success and

Labor Day Weekend is a special weekend where the Friends
of Camp turn themselves into the Camp Sacramento Staff and host a fun-filled
weekend with lots of unique activities. Call 808-6098 or 808-6169 for

--FORMED 1977 What are "Friends of Camp Sacramento"? Friends of Camp Sacramento is an organization formed in 1977 with the specific purpose to support and encourage the operations and development of Camp Sacramento along with creating public support for and interest in Camp. They assist financially, physically and through public advocacy the operations and development of Camp Sacramento. Also consult with, and advise as requested, the camp management and/or City of Sacramento, Department of Parks and Recreation regarding operations, policies, procedures and development of Camp. It is a volunteer organization, made up of people with a love for camp, dedicated to the support of maintaining Camp Sacramento for the enjoyment of all campers.What do "Friends of Camp Sacramento" do? These volunteers perform a variety of activities to ensure the ongoing success of Camp. These activities consist of several fund raising events such as a membership drive and raffle held at the beginning of each camp session. Friends help out with opening and closing weekend at Camp. The main fund-raiser is sponsoring Labor Day Weekend at Camp Sacramento. During Labor Day Weekend, Board Members work as volunteer staff members and set up activities for the weekend. With the profits from these fund-raisers Friends of Camp Sacramento is able to purchase things for Camp to make the camping experience more enjoyable. Friends is responsible for the great playground that was installed in 2000. They also have provided the awning on the dining hall porch and lodge. They remodeled the Lodge and put in the Lobby Desk. Patio furniture, kitchen supplies and other small items are purchased regularly. As a member of "Friends" you will receive notices of opening and closing weekend, yearly membership information and notices of any special events planned. They are always available to assist the City of Sacramento in the operation of Camp weather it be to assist with work projects, raise funds for programs and equipment or just to promote the "Family Camp" experience. |
