Parks and Recreation Holds Public Meeting on Master Plan

A comprehensive update of the Citys Parks and Recreation Master
Plan currently underway to set forth a new vision and direction for the
department is nearing completion. The master plan effort comes at a critical
time as the State of Californias fiscal crisis comes closer to significantly
impacting the City of Sacramento. The Parks and Recreation Master Plan
will be presented to the Mayor and City Council for approval in Spring
2004.
The Parks and Recreation Master Plan charts the growth,
priorities and agenda for parks and recreation through the end of the
current decade, and establish policies to guide decision making by City
staff and officials. A special joint meeting of the Citizens Advisory
Committee for Parks and Recreation and Youth Commission is being held,
one more in a series of public workshops where citizens can be directly
involved in the development of the plan.
