Department of Parks and Recreation Commission
Sacramento, California, September 30, 2004 - Recently,
the City Council approved the formation of the Department of Parks and
Recreation Commission. Applications are now being accepted.
A representative from each of the City's 11 community
plan areas (must reside within the planning area, not council districts),
and shall serve only so long as he/she remains a resident of the area.
The Parks and Recreation Commission is an advisory body
to the City of Sacramento's Department of Parks and Recreation. The Commission
serves as a bridge between the community and the Department on issues
related to parks and recreation. The Commission works with staff to review
and make recommendations on policies, projects, and other matters pertaining
to parks, recreation, trees, and human services.
Other Commission members' duties include reviewing and
making recommendations on the implementation of Department of Parks and
Recreation Master Plan, to conduct public hearings and review complaints
pertaining to parks and recreation issues, and to hear appeals relating
to tree maintenance and removals as requested by the Director.
Compensation: $50 per meeting attended, not to exceed
$250 per month. Applications are due by Friday, October 15, 2004, no later
than 5 p.m. (postmarks not accepted).
