Prepare Southside Park for Summer Season
Local AT&T Wireless Employees Will Work on April 22, 2004
Sacramento, California, April 20, 2004
Local volunteers from AT&T Wireless will clean up Southside Park and
Southside Accessible Playground site on Thursday, April 22, 2004 as part
of Keep America Beautiful, Inc.s Great American Cleanup. About two
dozen employees will work from 9 a.m. to noon painting the exterior of
the Southside pool building, rehabilitating the park perimeter jogging
trail, planting annual flowers at Southside Clubhouse, picking up litter,
and sanding and repainting benches.
The City of Sacramento Department of Parks and Recreation
will receive a $2,000 grant from Keep American Beautiful for hosting the
Southside Park cleanup. Most of the grant will help fund the new accessible
playground. This is the first Keep American Beautiful project hosted by
the City of Sacramento.
The Southside cleanup project is part of an Earth Day
initiative in which AT&T Wireless employees are volunteering in 12
cities across the United States. Keep America Beautiful, Inc., is the
nation's largest community improvement network and has sponsored projects
for more than 50 years. The Great American Cleanup is the nation's largest
annual community improvement program. More than 2.3 million volunteers
will participate in 30,000 cleanup, green-up and fix-up events in 14,000
communities between March 1 and May 31.
The news media is invited to attend this event. For further
