Tree Forum to Discuss Future of
Sacramento's Trees
Wednesday, September 29, 2004, 7 p.m. - 9 p.m., 1802 C Street
Sacramento, California, September 23, 2004 -
Sacramento is one of the most beautiful cities in California. While there
may be many reasons, one is certainly the beauty provided by our majestic
trees. Today there are approximately 165,000 public trees on our streets
and in our parks. In addition, there are well over 500,000 trees on private
property.
Together, these trees make up what is called our "urban
forest." While there are many benefits to such an expansive urban
forest, there are also many issues and requirements which must be addressed
on an ongoing basis.
Because of the age and condition of many trees in Sacramento's
urban forest, the City must be proactive in protecting and enhancing these
community assets. The City of Sacramento, coupled with the assistance
of the Sacramento Tree Foundation, has developed some proposals which
we believe will be of interest to all Sacramentans.
On Wednesday, September 29, the City of Sacramento Tree
Services Division of the Department of Parks and Recreation is holding
a forum on the "Status and Future Of Sacramento's Trees." The
forum will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Blue Diamond Almond Visitor
Center located at 1802 C Street in Sacramento.
