Witter Ranch Community Park Grand Opening

Saturday, May 15, 2004, Noon – 2 p.m., 3795 Saintsbury Drive, North Natomas

Sacramento, California, May 13, 2004 – The long-awaited grand opening of the Witter Ranch Community Park will be held at noon this Saturday, May 15, 2004. Witter Ranch Community Park represents the first community park now open in this section of North Natomas.

“Frankly, we are building homes faster than we can build parks,” said City Councilmember Ray Tretheway. “Our Department of Parks and Recreation is completing one park every month and is expected to continue that trend for the foreseeable future.”

The new Witter Ranch Community Park is on a nine-acre site located at 3795 Saintsbury Drive in North Natomas. Phase 1 development of the park consists of landscape development of the site. Park elements and amenities are considerable, including a regulation-sized soccer field, bantam-sized soccer field, baseball diamond, volleyball courts, children’s playground, group picnic area, automated irrigation system, concrete pathways and park furniture.

The Department of Parks and Recreation is expecting more than 500 residents to attend the grand opening celebration and festivities. Mayor Fargo and Councilmember Ray Tretheway are expected at the event along with other members of the City Council. The dedication ceremony will commence at approximately 12:15 p.m.
