Oak Park Community Center and Complex Celebrates 25 Years of Service
to the Community
Saturday, October 8, 2005, Noon to 4 p.m., Oak Park Community Center at 3425
Martin Luther King Jr., Blvd.
Sacramento, California, September
20, 2005 – On October 8, 2005,
the Oak Park Community Center and Complex will celebrate 25 years of
valued service to the residents of Oak Park. The Oak Park Community
Center was established in 1980 to provide social, recreational, education
and cultural programs for youth and teens of the community.
In addition, the residents had health and social
welfare needs. From
this the Oak Park Neighborhood Multi-Service Center was developed. The
Center is operated by the County of Sacramento’s Department of
Health and Human Services, in collaboration with the Department of Assistance
and Probation and La Familia Agency. Rounding out the Complex is
the City of Sacramento Fire Station #6, which is one of the busiest fire
stations in the nation; and Father Keith B. Kenney Elementary School,
which produces scholars in Oak Park.
“The Oak Park Community Center and Complex is a cherished place
for the residents, children and teens to recreate, learn, be among friends
and receive valuable services from the City and County of Sacramento,” said
Councilmember Lauren Hammond. “The wonderful staff provides
an array of family services open and ready to serve the community’s
needs.”
The celebration on October 8th begins with a parade at 11 a.m. (Alhambra
and Broadway) and ends at the Oak Park Community Center and Complex,
followed by a brief ceremony, food and celebration. For further
