Parks’ Staff Washing Down After
Every West Nile Virus Spraying
Sacramento, California, August 9, 2005
– Last evening Sacramento County began aerial spraying of pesticides
to combat the spread of West Nile virus. As a precautionary measure the
staff from the Parks Maintenance Division of the Department of Parks and
Recreation are washing down park equipment and structures after every
aerial spraying. The City of Sacramento is not mandated by Sacramento
County to wash down anything, but every morning Parks Maintenance staff
are hosing down barbeques, park benches, picnic tables, tot lots and other
playground structures as an added measure of safety. This procedure only
affects parks where aerial spraying is being conducted.
