Councilmember Kevin McCarty Invites you to attend the Public Opening
of Granite Regional Dog Park and Skate Park: November 24, 2006
Sacramento, California, November 17, 2006—On
Friday, November 24, 2006, two of the region’s most anticipated
park amenities—the Skate Park and Dog Park at Granite Regional Park,
will open to the public.
The Skate Park’s design is awe-inspiring, just
like the sport’s many tricks. Designed by Wally Hollyday, a world
renowned skate park designer, its expert-level features will challenge
the highly skilled, while its novice features will help train those who
are less skilled. The Skate Park has eight bowls, some as deep as fifteen
feet; a street course; and great circular flow. The Skate Park will stay
open from 8a.m. to dusk, until lights are installed in late spring, 2007.
Not to be outdone, the Dog Park boasts rich landscaping;
trees and shrubs; a dog drinking fountain; and access to a tranquil pond.
Most of these features are located within a gated, off-leash park. The
Dog Park will stay open from dawn to dusk.
An official grand opening celebration and ribbon cutting
is scheduled for spring, 2007. In the meantime, residents can use the
two amenities, beginning Friday, November 24, 2006. Councilmember Kevin
McCarty, City of Sacramento officials, and invited guests will be on hand
to open the Skate Park and Dog Park to the public. The public and media
are invited to attend.
