Nature-inspired Hummingbird Park Opens to the Delight of Natomas Residents:
December 22, 2006

Sacramento, California, December 22, 2006—Hummingbird Park, a one-of-a-kind park designed to provide an enchanting play experience for children while offering adults a wide range of recreation opportunities, opened to the public today.

Hummingbird Park’s amenities replicate the natural world and emphasize birds, flying insects, and their natural habitat. Visitors to the park will discover a tot lot with swings and a slide, a grass volleyball field, two horseshoe pits, covered picnic tables, barbeque grills, and a dry stream riverbed with perennial gardens that attract hummingbirds and butterflies. The park also features a series of magnificent sunflower art pieces made possible through Art in Public Places.

”Hummingbird Park will enable children to discover nature’s secrets while providing adults in the community a place to play, and relax,” said Councilmember Ray Tretheway. “I hope that in the upcoming days and weeks people from throughout Natomas and Sacramento will take a moment to stop by and enjoy our newest park.”

Hummingbird Park’s nature-inspired design and related amenities will leave a lasting impression on those who visit it. Hummingbird Park is located at 3601 Duckhorn Drive, Sacramento—I-5, Exit Arena Blvd (west), Left on Duckhorn Drive. The park is open from dawn to dusk.
