Oak Park Residents to Celebrate the Contributions of
the Oak Park Complex and 26 Years of Community: Saturday, October 7, 2006
Sacramento, California, October 3, 2006—
After another year of providing essential programs and services to the
Oak Park community, the Oak Park Complex and the residents
it serves will come together to celebrate this past year’s accomplishments.
The Oak Park Complex consists of three independent entities
that provide much needed services to residents: Sacramento Department
of Parks and Recreation; Multi-service Center; and WCIC/Playmate Head
Start. The Complex is a place where children can access the Head Start
program; teens can receive mentoring and homework assistance; and seniors
can socialize and engage in healthy activities.
The celebration will culminate in a parade and carnival
On Saturday, October 7, 2006 from 11a.m. to 4p.m.
Special guests include, Mayor Heather Fargo; Lauren Hammond, Councilmember,
District 5; Roger Dickinson, County Board of Supervisors; Bob Fleming,
Park Operations Manager, Sacramento Department of Parks and Recreation;
Keith Andrews, Division Chief, Primary Health, County of Sacramento;
and Dinger, the Sacramento River Cats’ mascot and parade
Grand Marshall.
The Oak Park Complex is located at 3425 Martin Luther King, Jr.
Blvd.
The schedule of events is as follows: Parade—11a.m.; Remarks
from Special Guests—12p.m; Community Carnival—1p.m to 4p.m.
