Creative Writing & Poetry
Wednesdays 1 pm to 3 pm. Group organized by Norma Kohout. Free. Join the group for some poetic inspiration and motivation. Meetings provide a workshop sharing of poetry information and discussion, followed by readings and positive commentary on each person’s poem. Select work may be published in the Hart newsletter or a class anthology.
Life History Writing
Tuesdays 9:30 am to 11 am. Free class; fee for materials $5. Led by Joe and Bubbles Miguel. Members of the class meet to write the stories of their lives. Prompts are provided and methods of writing stories are demonstrated. Students write and share with the class a story each week. Life history writing stimulates the memory and preserves the tales of your life for generations to come. The class produces a “Memories” book of members’ writings.
Annual Life History Writing Conference
Typically held in April, the Our Life Stories day-long writing conference held at Cosumnes River College has been successful two years in a row! Complete with keynote speakers, workshops by local poets and writers, and networking opportunities. Life History manuals are available for sale year round for $5;
