The Communications Center of the Sacramento Police Department offers Public Safety Dispatcher Courses to employees of public safety agencies in California, as well as to individuals not yet hired by a public safety agency.
Public Safety Dispatcher Basic Course
The Communications Center of the Sacramento Police Department offers the 120-hour P.O.S.T. Plan IV Public Safety Dispatcher Basic Course. This course is designed to introduce new and prospective dispatchers to the basic requirements of their jobs. This course is offered to employees of public safety agencies in California, as well as to individuals who are not yet hired by a public safety agency. Individuals not associated with a law enforcement agency are required to complete a Live Scan fingerprint check (fee applies).
NOTE: This course meets one of the P.O.S.T. requirements for certification as a Public Safety Dispatcher. Individuals must:

Successfully complete the Dispatcher Basic Course, AND

Work as a full-time public safety dispatcher with an agency participating in the P.O.S.T. Dispatcher Program, AND
-
Have satisfactorily completed that agency's probationary training period to become a P.O.S.T. certified public safety dispatcher.
