Project Description

The R Street Improvements Project, 10th Street to 13th Street reconstructed the street right-of-way into a safe, pedestrian-friendly and multi-use public right-of-way. The improvements include a concrete roadway, one travel lane in each direction, raised walkways, curb ramps, planted trees, street lighting and an updated storm drainage system.

Benefits

The project provided critical pedestrian safety and accessibility improvements to the R Street Corridor located in the City of Sacramento’s Central City Community while maintaining the street’s historic sense of shared space between pedestrians, bicyclists and vehicles.

Costs and Funding

The total project cost was $5,777,000. Funding is provided by federal and local matching funds.

Schedule

The project was completed in July 2012.
