Florin creek floodplain remap

The City of Sacramento, Sacramento Area Flood Control Agency, California Department of Water Resources, and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers completed the Florin Creek Channel and Multi-use Detention Basin Creek Project. This project resulted in FEMA re-mapping of approximately 600 properties within the Florin Creek floodplain area. The new floodplain designation will remove the majority of the Special Flood Hazard Area and allow residents and businesses to be eligible for lower-cost Preferred Risk Policy flood insurance (PRP). These PRP policies typically cost approximately $365 per year and cover both contents (up to $100,000) and structure (up to $250,000).

The map change is effective March 25, 2019.

To convert your policy to a PRP, you will need to provide a copy of the FEMA Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) and a copy of the Letter of Map Revision (LOMR) to your insurance agent. Copies of the FIRMs for Florin Creek and the Letter of Map Revision are located below.

A product of the National Flood Insurance Program, PRPs are available to most Sacramento property owners who have been released from the Federal flood insurance requirement.
