3rd Street Corridor Construction to Begin Early 2019

Construction of the Downtown Sewer Upgrade along 3rd Street is expected to begin in spring 2019 and conclude in summer 2020. Once construction begins, work will occur for 12 blocks from I to U streets, starting in the south then heading north to I Street, and two blocks on T Street, from 3rd to 5th Streets.

Construction activities will involve installation of a 42 and 48-inch in diameter combined sewer pipeline using conventional open cut trench method (cut street open, remove existing pipe and replace with new larger pipe). Once pipework is complete, the street will be paved. Traffic control is expected to be set-up and taken down daily with work generally occurring Monday through Fridays between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. As approved by the City, some weekend and night work may also occur particularly at key intersections where on/off ramps are located.

As construction nears, additional updates on work activities and schedule for the 3rd Street corridor will be posted on this page so please continue to check back or to if you would like to sign up to receive traffic alerts and progress updates, please complete the contact form on our Stay Informed page.
