Mission Statement
The Center for Sacramento History’s mission as a public agency is to illuminate and promote the exploration and analysis of the social, political, geographic, and cultural history of the City and County of Sacramento from their founding to the present, by collecting, preserving, exhibiting, and making accessible the documentary and material culture of the diverse region.
Collection Management Policy
On September 29, 2009, the Sacrament City Council enacted Resolution 2009-605, approving a new Collection Management Policy for the Center. The policy covers the acquisition, description, care, use, deaccessioning, and lending of collections held by the Center.

2010 Conservation Assessment Program Report
In July 2010, Niccolo Caldararo, Director and Chief Conservator of Conservation Art Service, spent two days with the staff of the Center and the Sacramento History Museum to assess the state of the collections at both institutions and suggest conservation priorities. Mr. Caldararo’s report, paid for through a CAP grant, provides both organizations a foundation in their efforts to secure additional grant funds for collections care.
