People of Sacramento Archives
In the early 1980s,
the Center administered a grant to gather information about ethnic communities in the Sacramento region. The results of the
Sacramento Ethnic Community Survey were compiled into an interactive computer exhibit for the Sacramento History Museum. In 1999, the Sacramento
County Office of Education, in conjunction with the Sacramento History and Science Commission, produced a CD-ROM version of the Sacramento Ethnic
Community Survey.
The CD-ROM traces the history of the numerous ethnic groups that have been part of the region’s history. It includes 1,300 images which provide insight into Sacramento’s rich history. The photographs, documents, newspaper articles, and maps are searchable by subject, ethnic community, and date. Each image has text which provides historical information about Sacramento's ethnic communities.
People of Sacramento Archives is available to the public for free. Please contact CSH if you are interested in picking-up a copy at our offices or in having the CD-ROM mailed to you for $5.00.
