Public Counter Closure

The Public Counter will be CLOSED Thursday, July 4, 2019 in observance of Independence Day.

Safety Inspections are now available online!

Are you in need of an electrical or gas plumbing safety inspection to restore services to your building? SMUD and PG&E Safety Inspection Requests can now be obtained completely online through our Citizen Portal with a basic account.

Important Information Regarding Map Recordation 

It has been brought to the City of Sacramento’s attention that the County Assessor’s Office is implementing a new deadline to record map documents that require the deletion/creation of assessor parcels. Unfortunately, this change will delay their ability to process and record maps in a timely manner. This year the deadline is May 17, 2019. Land division activities recorded/received after May 17 will be held for processing until the end of June, after all roll close system operations are complete.

The City’s consultant - Management Partners - has conducted an evaluation of the department’s Building and Planning operational fees. Developers and other stakeholders are invited to attend an upcoming workshop or contact the City directly for information by visiting the Building and Planning Fee Study web page.

Master Plan Review is going electronic!

Beginning March 1, 2019 Master Plan Applications will be completely electronic. Visit our Electronic Plan Check page for additional information.

Reduced Rates for Affordable Dwelling Units

Building Permit Applications for new regulated affordable dwelling units submitted on or after December 31, 2018 may qualify for reduced residential development impact fees rates.  

Is your building project valuation $1M or greater? Your building permit application now must be submitted through our Electronic Plan Check (EPC) Program. A dedicated Project Manager will also guide you through the entire process.

Development Tracker is Now LIVE for Planning Applications!

Formally known as Permit Tracker, the new “Development Tracker” offers the general public direct access to information regarding planning projects citywide and building permit data.
