Citizen Portal Online Services System Upgrade

Due to a system upgrade, our online services through the Citizen Portal site will be unavailable starting on Friday, September 11th at 5 pm until Monday, September 14th at 8 am. During this time all online services will be temporarily unavailable. Also, all inspection requests received after 3 pm on Friday, September 11th will be scheduled for Tuesday, September 15th. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. 

Emergency Permitting Process

In light of recent civil unrest and the associated impact to local businesses, City of Sacramento Community Development Department (CDD) is offering affected applicants’ access to an emergency permit process. Please view the Emergency Permitting Process for more information.

ATTENTION: Public Counter will be CLOSED

In the interest of keeping our community safe and well during this time, the Community Development Department's Public Counter, located at 300 Richards Blvd. 3rd Floor, will be CLOSED until further notice as of end of day March 18, 2020. All Planning and Building applications must be submitted through our Citizen Permit Portal. Please view the Online Services we are offering at this time. Updates will be made on our website as circumstances change.

e-Check limit increased for online payments

Our electronic check payment limit was increased from $100,000 to $150,000. For additional information visit our Pay Building Fees page.

NOTICE: LAST DAY FOR ASSESSOR TO PROCESS CHANGES TO PARCEL MAPS FOR THE 2019-20 ROLL IS FRIDAY, MAY 15, 2020. PARCEL MAP PROCESSING WILL RESUME JULY 1, 2020.

NEW e-Planning Submittal Service

The e-Planning Submittal facilitates submission of Planning Entitlements and projects requesting Planning clearance to submit to building permit applications for Electronic Plan Check (EPC). e-Planning integrates into the existing EPC service the Building Division has been operating for over five years. The 2019 California Building Codes will take effect on January 1, 2020!

In July, the new 2019 California Building Standards Code was published and will take effect on January 1, 2020.  The Building Division has outlined the key deadlines, 2019 Code Change Summary and some useful tools to help you navigate through this change.
