Download an application
To apply to the City Management Academy, download and complete the application. Your application must be received by Friday, December 3rd at 5:00pm (no postmarks accepted). Applications can be mailed, faxed or hand delivered to:

What is the cost of the academy?
The cost of the City Management Academy is $25.00 for materials and supplies associated with the course including copies of materials and binder. This fee is payable upon selection to attend and due by Wednesday, January 19th in cash or money order. Additional information will be provided to participants upon selection.
Who is eligible to participate?
The City Management Academy seeks applicants who are:
- city residents or business owners
- people who work in Sacramento or who conduct work benefitting the Sacramento community are also eligible to apply but higher consideration will be given to city residents and business owners
- at least 16 years of age
- interested in maintaining or improving the City of Sacramento community
Evaluation Criteria
Applicants will be evaluated on three criteria:
- Location of residence or business operations within the City of Sacramento limits.
- Level of involvement in community groups or organizations that benefit communities in the City of Sacramento.
- Demonstrated interest in applying what is learned in the City Management Academy to maintain or improve the Sacramento community
Application Process
A two-tiered review process will be used to select City Management Academy participants.
First Review
A panel of City Management Academy Alumni members and Neighborhood Services staff will evaluate and rank each application. A listing of 25 potential CMA candidates with 5 selected alternates will be forwarded to the Director of Neighborhood Services for approval.
Second Review
The Director of the Neighborhood Services Department will review the recommended applicants and alternates listing for approval and invitation to attend the City Management Academy.
