The City Management Academy is open to any City resident who has an interest in City government and how it is managed. Participants must be willing to devote two nights per week plus some Saturday mornings for two months in an interactive instructional setting.
The City Management Academy is free.
Participants can be nominated by friends, neighbors, elected officials, community organizations, City staff, business groups . . . or you can nominate yourself.
An application form is available online. The application must be completed and submitted with a written statement (no more than one-and-a-half pages) outlining the reasons why the nominee would find participation in the Academy a valuable experience.
All applications will be reviewed by a eight-member panel that can include representatives of local community organizations, neighborhood associations, businesses and government interests. The panel will recommend individuals for the final approval of the City Manager. The process of student selection will in part be guided by the need to ensure diversity.
