City Boards, Commissions and Committees

The Sacramento City Council has formed a variety of boards, commissions and committees to assist the City in the information gathering and deliberative process. It is the duty of each board's membership to provide feedback and direction to City Departments or the City Council on a variety of issues. Several boards are also delegated with decision-making authority (see board formation documents).

The following table provides information on the various boards under the full or joint authority of the Sacramento City Council, as well as boards of community interest. Board membership availability and qualifications are provided. We hope you find this information helpful and informative. How Do I Apply?

The application process takes at least three to four months to complete. The process includes the open/close of the filing period, review of applications, nomination to the Mayor, appointment by the Mayor, and confirmation by the full City Council. This process can be extended if there is a need to re-open the filing period for additional applications, or if personal interviews are needed to short list the candidates.
