Business ComplianceThe Business Compliance Division works in cooperation with other city departments in the issuance of permits and licenses and enforces various state and local codes and ordinances relating to businesses. Inspections are conducted to ensure code compliance and to promote public health, safety, and welfare. The following are license applications issued by the City of Sacramento as required by the Sacramento Municipal Code. To apply for the tobacco retailer license, follow these 3 steps:
After approval of the application, the tobacco retailer license will be issued and mailed to the licensee. Yearly license renewals must be completed 30 days prior to the expiration date and also have a $324 application fee. Tobacco Retailer License Annual Renewal: A Tobacco Retailer License fee in the amount of $324 and application are due annually. Current tobacco retailers will be mailed a renewal application and invoice about 60 days prior to license expiration. The fee and renewal application are either mailed or dropped off at the above addresses. To obtain a Tobacco Retailer renewal application, click (pdf) or (Word). Entertainment PermitsTo begin the application process for an entertainment permit, you must schedule an appointment by calling the Revenue Division (916) 808-5852. A $756 non-refundable fee is required for all entertainment permit applications. Also, all applicants must be fingerprinted by the Sacramento Police Department. The fingerprinting processing fee is $59.50 per individual. ________________________________________________________ Landlord and property owners of multi-unit housing (2 or more units) who designate at least 25 percent of their units as non-smoking, including private patios and balconies, are eligible to receive recognition. The units must be located within the Sacramento city limits. In December 2006, the Sacramento City Council passed a resolution encouraging landlords and property owners of multi-unit housing to designate at least 25 percent of existing rental units as non-smoking.
