Notice: The City of Sacramento Building Division will begin in-person inspections for building permits starting Monday, April 18. Inspections have been ongoing throughout the pandemic but have been done virtually through FaceTime and Google Duo.

Inspections are to be scheduled as normal.  On the day of your inspection, your inspector will contact you by phone to set up an inspection time.

After obtaining a permit and beginning construction work, inspections are required before any work can be covered or concealed. Building inspections are essential to ensure that all work has been done in compliance with code requirements. A construction project is not approved until it has been inspected and accepted by city inspection staff.

Please remember to have the building permit available onsite at all times throughout the construction period. Also, during an inspection a set of City-approved plans (stamped "APPROVED") will be required to be onsite.
