Room Additions

When adding a room to your home, remember the following:

• Verify the addition meets the proper property set back and/or minimum separation requirements with the Planning Division.
• Room additions cannot be built on public utility easements.
• Room additions must be connected to the main living space to ensure proper energy compliance as well as access to restroom facilities.
• Ensure adequate natural light and ventilation requirements are met. The minimum requirements are 10% (1/10) of the square footage or 10 square feet, which ever is greater, for light, and 5% (1/20) opening to provide natural ventilation.
