About the Sacramento Heritage Board
The Sacramento Heritage, Inc. Board is a California not-for-profit corporation established by the City of Sacramento to promote the preservation and rehabilitation of Sacramento's historic properties. Sacramento Heritage, founded in 1975, has a nine-member Board of Directors appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council.

Sacramento Heritage is a nine-member Board as follows:
A. Five (5) members at-large appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the City Council, with knowledge and/or experience in the following areas:
- Finance
- Housing
- History
- Preservation
- Construction/Development/Architecture
B. Four (4) members (chairperson or designee) by virtue of holding a City Council appointed position on the following boards or commissions:
- Sacramento Housing and Redevelopment Commission
- Preservation Commission
- City Planning Commission
- Housing Code Appeals and Advisory Appeals Board
The Sacramento Heritage board plan and implement a yearly program that will accomplish the goals of the organization:
- Provide for the preservation of architecturally and historically significant buildings in the City of Sacramento
- Provide for preservation related housing in the City of Sacramento
- Prepare and submit an Annual Report to the membership
- Search out funding sources or financing mechanisms for the organization
