Urban Design Group

The Urban Design Group at the City of Sacramento consists of Urban Design, Design Review, and Historic Preservation.  All disciplines are supervised by the Urban Design Manager. Design Review ensures that proposed projects are designed with appropriate massing, articulation, and detailing, resulting in construction that enhances and complements the surrounding neighborhoods.   Historic Preservation identifies and protects historic structures, districts and cultural resources. Urban Design oversees the design of the public realm in the making of our City. Urban design coordinates with other city agencies on the development of street design, parks, and plazas as well as creating urban design guidelines pertaining to the public and private elements of our city and City initiated projects.
