To increase interest in preserving historic architecture and landmarks within Sacramento, there are incentives offered at the City, State and Federal levels:

- Fire & Life Safety alternate means to achieve regular code standards
- State seismic retrofit property valuation reduction - after rehab valuation of property reduced by cost of seismic retrofit
Incentives in the Works: Historic Places Matching Grant Program
- Property is listed, or determined eligible and nominated
- 1:1 match requirement
- Grants between $1,000 and $25,000
- Work meets Secretary of Interior's Rehabilitation Standards
- Work completed within one year
- Grant funds awarded on reimbursement basis
