Checking an Address
Requirements and approvals for a construction project depend on the zoning of the property in question, as well as whether the work is being done within a Design Review or Preservation district, or another special district. The Development Services Department has developed an online search system to allow citizens and applicants to research the details of their property.
-
Go to the Online Property and Application Search tool. This page will appear in a new window:

-
Click on the Check/Research Permits link. This page appears:

-
Click on the By Address link in the left-hand column. This page appears:

- Enter an address in the appropriate fields. Be sure to only put the street name, and not the suffix. For example, as in the screen shot above, for 915 I Street, put “915” under “Street Number”, and just “I” for the street name. You can select “Street” in the Suffix field, but it is not required. Then, click on the “Search” button.
- Select the desired address from the list that appears. (Similiar versions of the same address may appear. This is due to different ways the address was entered into the system over the years.)
-
The Address Detail page will appear for the address you selected:
- Click on the Parcel Number link. This screen appears with the district and zoning information:

The above screen lists the following, if applicable:- Design Review Area
- Building Inspection Area
- Historic District
- Zoning
- Flood Zone
- School District
