Supporting the MATRIX Structure
The MATRIX program reorganizes staff of different disciplines (building, planning, etc.) into a team that focuses on a specific development type (i.e., high rise, commercial, small commercial etc.) to improve the development process from beginning to end. To this end, Community Development has established a series of support groups designed to provide mentoring and coaching to staff, as opposed to the more traditional management and supervisory methods of oversight:

- Process Managers

This group is made up of staff who serve as single point of contact to the applicants on each project submittal. Duties include:
- Central point of contact for the customer
- Identify, confirm and document project constraints, process roadmap and schedule
- Coordinate pre-application and regular project meetings
- Liaison between the customer, agencies and City departments
- Facilitate issue resolution
- Assist with project hand-offs
- Consensus build and negotiate between parties
- Provide advice and guidance to the applicant
