4/20 Update: Volunteers are still needed!
The following sites still need Earth Day volunteers for clean-up and landscaping support:
- Robla Community Park (625 Bell Ave, Sacramento, CA 95838) – Landscaping activities
- William Chorley (7063 20th St.)- Clean-up
- San Juan Reservoir Park (3320 West Witter Way) – Clean-up
Volunteers that show up the day of the event without pre-registration will need to complete a waiver form at the site before participating. Once you arrive, look for the volunteer site lead to complete your form and receive directions.
City of Sacramento staff are inviting people to participate in the “Great Sacramento Clean-Up,” a citywide event to clean litter from community locations and waterways.
Clean-ups will happen at several locations on Earth Day, April 22. The event is open to individuals or groups. Minors under 18 years old must be accompanied by an adult.
The clean-up events will be at the below locations:
- Del Paso Regional Park (3565 Auburn Blvd, Sacramento, CA 95821)
- San Juan Reservoir Park (3320 West Witter Way)
- Miller Park (2701 Marina View Dr.)
- Matsui Park (450 Jibboom St.)
- William Chorley Park (7063 20th St.)
- Granite Regional Park (8200 Ramona Ave.)
- North Laguna Trail at Jacinto Creek Park (8600 W Stockton Blvd.)
Landscaping locations are Robla Community Park (625 Bell Ave.) and William Land Park (3853 18th St.).
Volunteers should wear sunscreen and appropriate work clothing, as well as bring their own water and snacks. Tools to clean litter will be provided.
Free bus and light rail rides are available the day of the event, courtesy of SacRT.
Sacramento Earth Day Celebration CELEBRATION SUNDAY, APRIL 23RD
The City is a sponsor for the Sacramento Earth Day celebration on Sunday, April 23rd at Southside Park, from 11 a.m. to 4 pm. City staff from multiple departments will be available at the event as table exhibitors, with information and activities.
Youth clean-ups
The City is also commemorating Earth Day with cleanup, tree plantings, and maintenance activities at parks across the city led by and the Landscape and Learning program Landscape and Learning (L&L) program, a paid youth workforce experience program of the Youth, Parks, and Community Enrichment Department.
