Mayor's Institute on City Design - Sacramento
The City of Sacramento is hosting a Mayor’s Institute on City Design (MICD) from February 13-16, 2011. The Mayor’s Institute on City Design is a National Endowment for the Arts leadership initiative in partnership with the American Architectural Foundation and the United States Conference of Mayors. Since 1986, the Mayor’s Institute has helped transform communities through design by preparing mayors to be the chief urban designers of their cities.

This February, a team of MICD experts will visit Sacramento support the city's efforts to revitalize the downtown "JKL corridor." The primary focus of this Institute is to consider how the "JKL corridor" can become a more desirable place while improving the physical relationships with the rest of the downtown district and the city at large. The MICD team will do this primarily through exploring urban design solutions with the Mayor, city staff, and the public. Core to this consideration is implementing green design and stainability concepts in the "JKL corridor" in a cost effective manner. View the Video of the Event
