Development Objectives
In October 2004, the City hosted a design charrette to garner community feedback in an effort to create a vision for the J and L Street areas between 7th and 13th streets. The JKL Corridor visioning process recommended strategic attention be given to key development opportunity sites within the K Street corridor, one of which is the 700 and 800 blocks of K Street. The development objectives for this opportunity site include:
- Further the vision for the JKL Corridor by bringing a significant ground floor retail, housing, and commercial uses to the 700 and 800 blocks of K Street
- Create a transformative high-quality development that both enhances and defines the Downtown skyline, while also aiding in the revitalization of Downtown by creating a project that helps re-establish Downtown as a regional destination
- Provide unique and distinctive restaurant and retail uses that benefit residents and visitors in the Central Business District and contribute to the vitality of the community
- Create a development that is financially and economically viable
