CURRENT PLANNING STUDIES:
North CBD Access Study
The goals of this study include:
" Define the roadway network needed to support development of the
Richards Blvd. and Railyards
areas;
" Ensure that identified improvement projects are feasible;
" Develop reliable cost estimates; and
" Develop implementation and phasing plans for the improvements.

Gateway District Master Plan
This master plan will encompass the area roughly bounded by North 12th,
North 16th, the American River, and the UPRR mainline tracks. Issues to
be addressed include traffic circulation, streetscape improvements, pedestrian
safety, public transportation, and landscaping. For more information contact

Railyards/Richards Blvd. Community Plan Update Process
The City has embarked upon an update to the community plans that regulate
the Richards Boulevard and Railyards planning areas. Due to major changes
in the proposed roadway, transportation, and utility infrastructure, the
City must modify the existing plan documents. In addition, a new master
plan for the Railyards Area is anticipated to dramatically change the

Two River's Parkway

Project Description: Development of a 2.5-mile recreation trail along
the south bank of the American River and construction of promenade improvements
along the Sacramento River, north of the I Street Bridge, to the confluence

North B Street Reconstruction
Project Description: This project will reconstruct North B Street between
North 7th and North 12th Streets. For more information contact Zuhair

Richards Boulevard and 16th Streets Intersections
Improvements
Project Description: This project is being designed to provide a signalized
intersection and left turn lanes from Richards Boulevard to 16th Street
and left turn lanes from 16th Street to Richards Boulevard. Subject to
California Public Utilities Commission approval on the proposal, construction
is anticipated to begin in August 2004. For more information contact Ricky

Jibboom Street Park
Project Description: This proposed 5-acre park will complement the recently
completed Jibboom Street Plaza, constructed as part of the City's new
water intake structure. No decision has been made regarding adaptive reuse
of the historic PG&E steam plant building. For more information contact

COMPLETED PROJECTS:
Amtrak Station Light Rail Extension (click to view photo)
Project Description: As part of Regional Transit's Folsom light rail extension project, an extension of light rail from 7th and K streets to the Amtrak Station at 4th and I streets will create a new transportation hub with direct connections to inter-city rail and bus service.
Total Project Cost: $15 million

Project Description: The City of Sacramento, in partnership with Amtrak, the Capitol Corridor Joint Powers Agency, is constructing improvements at the Historic Rail Depot (Amtrak Station). The improvements will include reconstruction of the parking lot, replacement of the Depot roof structure, installation of a monument sign, and improvements to the landscaped frontage.

Richards Boulevard Street Widening (click to view photo)
Project Description: The street widening project will create a five-lane street between North 7th and SR 160. The project includes curbs, gutters, sidewalks, and new traffic signals at key intersections. The project eliminates a number of former railroad crossings, now abandoned.

7th Street Extension

Project Description: Phase 1 of the extension will create a direct connection
from Downtown to the Railyards and Richards Boulevard Area.

Water Intake Structure and Historic PG&E Building
Development

Project Description: The new 12,000 square foot water intake structure
received the American Institute of Architects Exemplary Design Award.
Now open to the public, the reinforced concrete structure is approximately
210 feet long, 36 feet in width and a 720-foot access bridge.
Total Project Cost: $30 million
