Community Center Theater Renovation
Project Description: Initial designs are underway for the renovation of the City's Community Center Theater. Design improvements under consideration include: expansion of lobby area, restrooms, box office, food and beverage facilities and loading dock area; designing rehearsal and dressing room space; refurbishment of the existing stage; upgrades to the lighting system; exterior enhancements to update and improve the Theater's appearance on both L Street and K/13th streets; and installation of marquees on L and 13th streets.

Project Description: Construction of a new, 13,000 sf restaurant on the waterfront, Joe's Crab Shack, to be operated by Landry's Restaurants, Inc.
Total Project Cost: Approximately $4 million

Lucca Restaurant (click to view photo)
Project Description: This project converted a 6,500 square foot 1920's brick auto repair garage into a 5,000 square foot Mediterranean-inspired bistro style restaurant. The establishment includes a full bar, a large landscaped outdoor dining patio area and two dining rooms. The Redevelopment Agency provided financing to the building owners to offset about half the cost of seismic and mechanical upgrades and a new roof. In exchange, the property owners were required to lease to the experienced restaurant operators or another approved use that would generate similar activity nights and weekends.

Project Description: Continued renovation of Old Sacramento as a retail, entertainment, and historic district including millions of dollars of public investment for the following projects:

  • Construction of the Public Market that provides a year-round venue for fresh produce, groceries, various food-related items, bike rentals, a dog biscuit bakery, and other retail businesses
  • Construction of the waterfront promenade for pedestrians, south of Capitol Mall
  • Construction of a visitor boat dock and new barge
  • Reconstruction/Renovation of numerous buildings to authentic latter-19th Century theme
  • Construction of historic ambiance elements, including period cobblestone streets, lighting, and signage
  • Construction of mini-parks
