About the Area
The River District, part of Sacramento’s central city, is located at the confluence of two major California waterways: the Sacramento and American rivers. It is just north of the 240-acre Railyards project and less than a mile north of downtown Sacramento.
The 1,050 acre district is undergoing a transformation from its current, mostly industrial, businesses into an eclectic, mixed-use community bordered by a ribbon of parks at the rivers' edge. It will feature a wide range of employment, entertainment and housing options for families and individuals.
Public investment including new streets and light rail will connect the district to Downtown, Natomas, and the airport.
As the area transitions, the ultimate vision for the district supports transit-oriented, mixed-use development, including additional office, retail, commercial, hotels and restaurants, as well as residential and condominiums.
Its location in Sacramento's central city and its easy access to California's Capitol, Sacramento Convention Center, Cal Expo and Arco Arena as well as Interstates 80 and 5, Highways 50, 99 and 160 make it an ideal business, transportation and residential center.
The River District is also a redevelopment area to facilitate the revitalization and redevelopment of the district. In addition, Enterprise Zone tax credits can assist projects and businesses. |
